We grill hamburgers off the back of truck and go and knock of peoples doors, ask if they want a free hamburger and then share the love of God and our testimony. WOW. It was not like anything I experienced before. I have done prayer walks in Honduras plenty of times but doing a prayer walk in the states is something totally different. I got a lot of unanswered doors, a lot of "no I'm not interested in hearing about this." You see, in Honduras, everyone answered their door. Everyone wanted us to pray with them. And even some invited us into their home. We got to talk and get to know each other. Culture is very different all over the world, and it takes courage to get out there to talk about and share about Jesus.
A few stories of the people I met. One was a guy who was a truck driver. He leased his trucks but lost the one he had, and can't work because he needs financing for a new truck. He is caring for his mother. Another is a single dad of 2, just raising his kids. Another was a teeanger, football player, and he didn't know about Jesus. When we asked them all the one question, do you know where you are going when you die, they all said yes, heaven. Then we asked, how do you know this? They said because they are good, and do good things, help care for others.
You see, a lot of people believe this, that they can get into heaven by good works. But the bible says that to enter into heaven you must believe in Jesus, the son of God. We are all sinners (Romans 3:23) and need the forgiveness of God. Someone has to pay for that sin, which is either by separation from God-Hell or by death (Romans 6:23). And Jesus did just that. died for us (Romans 5:8, John 3:16).
BUT...if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is lord and believe in your heart that he was raised from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9, 13)
The first step is to believe. Do you believe? It was a hard day. I admit, I was scared and stumbled at times with my words. But God is there, and works through our weakness.
Romans 3:23; For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Romans 6:23; For the wages of sin is death.
Romans 5:8; but God commendeth his love towards us, iin that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 10:9, 13; This is thou shalt confess with they mouth the lord Jesus, and shall believe in thine heart that God has raised him from the dead, thous shalt be saved. For whosoecer shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
