I feel I experienced God working a miracle in our group. I witnessed God showing us the parable of Jesus feeding the 5,000 from John 6:1-15.
As we prepared for dinner, we had 6 unexpected guests just show up. They were students from the high school by the Jungle school. (actually, it is one hour past the Jungle school in the mountains.) Normally this would not be a problem for us to have guests for dinner. Our cooks make a bountiful feast of good food for us and we usually have more than plenty. But tonight, was taco night. There is never any leftovers or extra on taco night. I have been hearing about taco night since I got here. Well, the test has come tonight, to share our tacos! As we women look at the food and realize we may not have enough for 7 more people, 4 students and the volunteer staying with us, we start to worry but decide that if we have to eat PB&J, we would. Then they start to leave….: HMMM” I think, “I may have my tacos.” But I quickly think, NO! What kind of Christian would I be to open my house and then send my guest away without sharing our bountiful feast. We invited them to stay, Eddie gave a beautiful prayer and then God did his miraculous wonders!
Everyone went through the line (28 people) got a huge plate of food and we had a little left over! As we ate, we witnessed to them. They were grateful for the food and fellowship. They couldn’t stay long because it was getting dark and they had to ride their bikes home to the mountains. (about 1 ½ hours away). I think, how could we have a lack of faith in our God. God will fulfill our every need and provide to us when our human minds think it will not work.
During this time in LaCeiba, I had been listening to a song from the band Skillet. I felt God working through this song to me. The chorus goes:
“Today I’m gonna try a little harder, gonna make every minute last a little longer,
gonna learn to forgive and forget, because we don’t have long,
gonna make the most of it.
Today I am gonna love my enemies,
reach out to somebody who needs it,
make a change, make this world a better place,
because tomorrow may be one day too late.”
Bendiciones
